Bertha Mae “Mamie” Landy Green Reed, was born on September 8, 1943 and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022 at the age of 78, while surrounded by her loved ones at her home. She was the cherished daughter of Frank Landy Sr. and Bertha Leoner Gisssentanner Landy
Bertha known by some a Mamie, was born in Aiken County South Carolina, and grew up in the New Holland Community. She joined the Chalk Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She grew in Christ as she served on various auxiliaries from singing on the choir to the role of church clerk. Bertha was educated in the public school system in Aiken County, South Carolina. She attended and graduated from A. L. Corbett High School class of 1961. In 1965 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Harry Green Jr., she then relocated to Columbia, South Carolina. To this union two beautiful children were born, Jennifer and Dexter. She continued her work for Christ and joined Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.
A Wife, a mother and now entering the workforce. Bertha was employed with Horseman Doll Factory in West Columbia, South Carolina where she worked until the company closed. She later on became employed with Quest Diagnostics where she worked until her retirement. Even after retirement she continued helping others. She loved and treasured her family. She especially loved her role as Grandma (Bert). She lived life to the fullest. She had a unique personality and always made you laugh. It can truly be said she never met a stranger. She was loved by many and will surely be remembered by all she encountered.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry Green Jr.; sisters Pearlean Davis, Pauline Brown and Janice James; brothers Frank Landy Jr., James Alvin Landy, Robert Lee Landy, Jerome Landy and Lane Landy.
Bertha leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children Jennifer Green Gadsden and Dexter (Shannon) Green; Grandchildren D. Tyrell Gadsden, Devin Green, Kyairra Gadsden, Ashton Green, and Amaya Green; Great grandchildren Taleah Gadsden, Cassidy Herman, Milena Green, Kylan Green, and Teagan Brown; Sister Mildred Christian, Patricia (Maryland) Tyler, Gwendolyn Edwards, Anita Landy and Deborah (Rev. Ronnie) Tyler; Godson Zachary Landy Dunbar; Foster daughter Elizabeth Browder, and a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
