Charles Davenport

Mr. Charles Edward Davenport was born on August 31, 1944 to the late Melvin, Sr. and Gladys Davenport of Wagener, South Carolina.  He departed this earthly journey on February 26, 2023.  Charles was married to Gloria Holloway Davenport on September 18, 1965 in Aiken County, South Carolina.  This beautiful union lasted for over 57 years.

Charles dedicated his life at an early age at Saron Baptist Church located in Wagener, South Carolina where he embraced his Christianity throughout the entirety of his life.  He also was employed by Wagener Manufacturing Company, SC Department of Transportation, J.H. Robinson Grocery Store & Funeral Home.

He lived a fulfilling life as a loving husband and father.  He will be greatly missed for his unique sense of humor and immense care for others.  Memories of Charles will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who interacted with him.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin, Sr. and Gladys Davenport and one brother, Larry Davenport, and one daughter-in-law; Maria Davenport.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Gloria Holloway Davenport of Wagener, South Carolina; three children, Arnold Davenport of Wagener, South Carolina, Antoine Davenport of Aiken, South Carolina, Tammy Moore (Nathan) of Wagener, South Carolina; three brothers, Melvin Davenport, Jr. (Blondell), Benjamin Davenport (Evelma), Benny Davenport (Beatrice); one sister, Janice Davenport; two sisters-in-law; Letha Burris and Eartha Davenport all of Wagener, South Carolina. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives who will miss him dearly.
