Deaconess Louise D. James, daughter of the late Milledge and Moselle Moore Darns, Sr., was born on May 27, 1929 in Aiken County, SC. During the morning of May 24, 2021, God called her name and she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.
Louise retired from Aiken County Public Schools after many years of dedicated service as a custodian. She was the oldest active member of the Calidonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as: Deaconess, Assistant Mother of the Church, Church Sexton, and for many years as President of the Calidonia Gospel Choir. Also, Louise served on the Flower Committee and established the Calidonia Sunbeam choir.
She was married to the late Deacon Henry Willis James, a gentleman of spiritual compassion and humility.
Louise was married to the late Henry W. James, and to this union they were blessed to have 6 children.
Louise was preceded in passing by her three sisters Elewese Smith, Ella Mae Smith, and Lilie Mae Wilson; one brother Frank Darns; one daughter-in-law Marcella James; one son-in-law Elonzo Kitchings, and one granddaughter Vanessa Hughes.
She will be remembered for her sweet, loving spirit, candid wisdom and unselfish kindness. She will be missed by all her family, who dearly loved her.
Those left to cherish the memories of the life lived with Louise include her six children ,James Brown, Baton Rouge, LA, Elizabeth (Pernell) Peterson, Ridge Spring, SC, Robert (Christine) Brown, Versailles, KY, Henry L. James, McDonaugh, GA, Gloria J. James and Janice Kitchings both of Wagener, SC; one brother Milledge Darns Jr, Middletown, OH; 16 grandchildren, James, Thelma, Pamela, Adrian, Teresa, Michael, Pernell Jr., Lisa, Kendra, Shahron, Nikki, Jerrell, Charissa, Laquita, John, and Jamie, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
