Rodney McKensey James

Rodney McKensey James Sr. was the son of Ulysses James Sr and Jeanette James.  He was born on April 9, 1967 in Aiken County, South Carolina.

Rodney  who was affectionately known as “G.O.A.T.” received his education in the schools of Aiken County, graduating from Wagener-Salley High School.  He was a member of Chalk Hill Baptist Church in Wagener, SC. 

Rodney was very fond of the sport of racing, and made his own race truck which he named “Lil Nasty”.  He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flossie James and Estelle Landy, and his brother Ulysses James Jr.

Rodney leaves to cherish the memories of the life he lived, his parents Ulysses and Jeanette James; sons, Brandon (Randi) Cooper and Rodney James Jr.; daughter, Tyshawna James; special friend, Ann Stone;  step-sons, Tyquan Williams and Andre Posey;  step-daughters, Brittany Maston and Whitney (Roy) Fulmer; brothers, Steve (Dorthy) Landy, Tyrone James, Darrell James, Michael (Erica) James, Willie Albert (Linda) Seawright and Thomas White; sisters, Joann (Larry) Cannon, Shanequa James and Shameka James; grandchildren,Eli and Ethan Cooper, Travon Lofton, Kasey James, Shania and Makyia Jackson, Taylor, Aaliyah and RJ Fulmer, London Posey, and a host of other family members and friends.

“G.O.A.T.” will be missed by many.

There will be a Viewing for Rodney on Monday January 9 from 2 to 6 pm at Chalk Hill Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be on Tuesday January 10 at 2 pm also at Chalk Hill Baptist Church.
